WSBK Estoril: Scott Redding dominates in his Estoril return

Scott Redding leads the way in FP1 at Estoril by nearly half a second on his return to the track.

Scott Redding returns to Portimao for the first time since 2012 and lets everyone know what he’s all about. The WorldSBK title is on the line but out of his hands, it solely counts of Rea having a disaster of a weekend for Redding to win the title, Rea would need 3 x DNF’s and Redding would need to win all 3 races, he would then take the title by 3 points.

It’s a fact that he will not go down without a fight, however, it is a little too late, but we can never say never!

Redding leads 4 Yamaha’s led by Garrett Gerloff by 0.438 at the American’s first ride at the track with 4 Yamaha’s and a Ducati in the top 5, Loris Baz was the next fastest rider just 0.499 from P1.

Toprak Razgatlioglu was the first man outside of the 0.5 bracket in P4 with Michael Van Der Mark in P5 in his last Yamaha race ahead of his BMW switch.

Jonathan Rea was next up, the fastest Kawasaki before the field switched back to Yamaha’s with Jonas Folger taking seventh place as a wildcard, also riding here in 2011.

Alex Lowes took the eighth-place spot with Federico Caricasulo in P9, confirmed as leaving Yamaha for 2021 with a potential Moto2 switch on the cards.

Chaz Davies also makes his last Aruba.IT appearance as he leaves the team at the end of the season.
