Moto2 Qatar Combined FP3: Red Bull KTM Ajo remain 1-2 heading into qualifying

KTM continue to dominate in Moto2 heading into qualifying.

Augusto Fernandez and Pedro Acosta were the fastest Moto2 riders heading into qualifying as two rookies find themselves in Q2 of the intermediate class. Nothing could topple the Red Bull KTM Ajo’s lap times from yesterday with the pair confidently leading the way in Moto2, Pedro Acosta was one of many riders in the session to suffer a crash, not that this phased him too much.

Finishing in third overall was Marcel Schrotter whose time from yesterday was enough of a cushion to blast him into Q2 alongside Celestini Vietti and Aron Canet in the top 5 who also didn’t improve their lap times from yesterday, only three riders were able to improve on their times in today’s FP3 session to secure themselves a spot in Q2.

The Honda Asia Team acted as a sandwich for Filip Salac who joins Acosta as the only rookies in the Q2 session later today. The Czech rider placed in P8 with Ai Ogura and Somkiat Chantra in P7 and P9 respectively with Cameron Beaubier rounding out the top 10.

Despite suffering a crash, Jake Dixon’s FP2 time was enough of a bumper that meant he could push through to Q2 with Tony Arbolino, rounding out the Q2 spots were improvers Joe Roberts and Jorge Navarro who sneaked through in the last minutes of FP3.

Riders forced to go via Q1 include Albert Arenas, Jeremy Alcoba and Bo Bendsneyder.
