Moto3 Valencia FP1: Izan Guevara opens final weekend in P1

Izan Guevara starts the Moto3 weekend in P1 at his teams home circuit.

Izan Guevara returns to the scene of the ‘crime’ where he won the Junior Moto3 World Championship 12 months ago, it’s a track he knows incredibly well and he’s proven this leading the way in FP1 in dry-ish conditions only 0.048 from Moto3’s number 1 enemy Darryn Binder who no doubt will be treading incredibly carefully this weekend after his DSQ in Portimao following an ‘entanglement’ with Dennis Foggia and Sergio Garcia.

Finishing third in the session was Andrea Migno ahead of his ex-teammate Filip Salac in fourth, the Czech rider making his final Moto3 appearance before he heads over to Moto2 in 2022 with the Gresini team, the pair led the newly crowned world champion Pedro Acosta who can race this weekend carefree and with some more risk now that the championship is done and dusted before he also goes to Moto2 for 2022.

Japanese rider Yuki Kunii led Romano Fenati and his countryman Ayumu Sasaki with Sergio Garcia and John McPhee in 10th place, three of these five riders remaining in Moto3 next year with Kunii being replaced by Japanese super talent, Taiyo Furusato, Fenati stepping up to Moto2 and Sasaki and McPhee pairing up at Max Biaggi’s Moto3 team and Garcia staying put.
