Moto2 Le Mans Qualifying: Raul Fernandez takes rookie pole

Raul Fernandez takes his first Moto2 pole position in tough conditions.

Raul Fernandez continues to impress in Moto2 taking pole position in difficult conditions, Friday was his first ride in the wet conditions and just a day later he’s stood in parc ferme on pole position. He is super impressive especially given his lack of experience in the class. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that he is a clear contender for the race win tomorrow despite only being a rookie, he already has a race win in the class don’t forget.

Joining Fernandez on the front row is Marco Bezzecchi who came from absolutely nowhere to set a strong time, he wasn’t a rider highlighted as being someone who was contending for pole position until he banged in a lap time worthy of P2 only 0.240 behind Fernandez on pole, joining the duo on the front row is Joe Roberts who came from Q1. Roberts has had a tough weekend so far so this retribution of a front-row start will be music to his ears, lets hope he doesn’t have the same issue he did last year at his race start.

Aron Canet is another rider who wasn’t talked about much, the Spanish rider slapped down a lap time worthy of P4 heading the front row, he is joined by Augusto Fernandez who once again is showing some huge improvements these last few races with Bo Bendsneyder also on the second row.

Remy Gardner was another rider who struggled to set a top time, the Moto2 title leader starting in P7 tomorrow with his title rival Sam Lowes in P10.
