WSBK: Jonathan Rea on the verge of sixth title

Jonathan Rea can secure his sixth consecutive WSBK title at Magny Cours this weekend.

Jonathan Rea is already the most successful WSBK rider of all time with his 5 championships and a record number of wins, but he is looking to add another championship to his tally this weekend, making it six in a row, an unbelievably consistent record.

For Rea to win his sixth title, he must leave the French track with 11 more points than Scott Redding, which has done in the last 2 rounds, who has put up a valiant effort against the Northern Irishman in his rookie season, taking 12 x podiums and 4 x wins so far as a rookie, meaning next year, Rea has a fight on his hands to win his seventh title.

Rea and Kawasaki joined forces in 2015 after Rea’s 7-year stint with Honda came to an end following inconsistencies with the bike. He went to Kawasaki and proved that it was the bike and not the ride, completely dominating the sport winning the 2015, 16, 17, 18, 19 and potentially 2020 titles.

Not only can he win the title here, but he can also become the first-ever rider to win 100 races in the championship, if he is able to do the triple, winning both races and the Superpole race, he will break this enormous barrier and really cement his name into the history of the sport.
