MotoGP Short Read: Why Johann Zarco is a good fit at Pramac Ducati

Johann Zarco has been confirmed at Pramac Ducati, bringing a wealth of experience with him.

2 x Moto2 champion Johann Zarco moving to the Pramac Ducati team instead of the factory team is an expected move, and a great move for the Frenchman. Zarco has a lot of experience and is still fairly young meaning he still has race wins and podiums to fight for, plus the fitness and motivation to carry on.

The Frenchman has had the pleasure of riding 5 different MotoGP bikes, the Suzuki, Yamaha, KTM, Honda and now the Ducati, therefore the knows their strengths and also their weaknesses, meaning he can attack other riders on track using this knowledge. This knowledge is invaluable to a team like Pramac Ducati with a rookie rider, Jorge Martin, as his teammate, this is because if Martin is struggling with other riders or how to overtake, Zarco can provide his knowledge to help the team improve.

His data will also be very useful for the team, he is able to score pole positions and podium finishes on the Ducati, this again will be able to help his teammate Martin adjust to MotoGP, being able to share data to his teammate will allow his teammate to learn MotoGP more effectively and learn things like where to brake, how much pressure to use and the gears to use for each corner.

Jorge Martin will benefit majorly from the input of Zarco, neither rider is slow after all and they will both push each other and motivate each other to improve on their Ducati GP21’s.

Not to mention, Zarco will not have the added pressure of being a factory rider, he struggled at KTM when the bike was not working and was struggling to develop this to his needs, however in the Pramac team, this job is left to the factory boys and Michele Pirro, allowing him to get the job done on track.
