Moto2 Emilia Romagna FP2: Augusto Fernandez leads the FP2 session

Augusto Fernandez was the fastest rider in FP2 at Misano.

Augusto Fernandez led a dry-ish Moto2 FP2 session which saw the top three riders within 0.100 seconds to Fernandez in P1, Fernandez breaking his way into the 1:40’s with a 1:40.930 which is the fastest lap we have seen in all sessions so far this weekend proving we have seen some improvement in the conditions, he led title leader Remy Gardner who will be desperate to claw back some of the 25 points he lost due to his crash at COTA, both he and his teammate Raul Fernandez are strong here in Misano so it’s not going to be easy! The Petronas boys finished up in P3 and P4 split by 0.434 seconds with Vierge within the 0.100 marker and Dixon a little way back.

Celestino Vietti rounded out the top five, the Italian rookie showing some strong speed this morning in FP1 before backing it up in FP2, could we see a surprise result? We will have to see! He led Sam Lowes in P6 and Ai Ogura in P7, Ogura going well despite a crash earlier today and looking strong ahead of Raul Fernandez. Fernandez hasn’t had the best of days today but was able to improve from the low 20’s to a top 10 finish in the final laps of the session to join Somkiat Chantra and rookie Fermin Aldeguer who rounds off the top 10.

Further down the order were Aron Canet in P14, Marco Bezzecchi in P15 and Jorge Navarro in P18.
