Moto3 Emilia Romagna FP3: Xavier Artigas leads overall

Xavier Artigas leads the lightweight class as they head into qualifying.

Xavier Artigas is the fastest rider in the Moto3 class as they head into qualifying, the young rookie Spaniard pulled out a strong lap to be able to lead the session and secure himself a Q2 spot ahead of qualifying later today, he led Yuki Kunii by a massive 0.302 seconds as the lightweight field bunched together once again with their times as competitive as ever, the pair led Alberto Surra who really has shown himself to be a wet weather specialist these last few weekends, he is only in the early stages of his Grand Prix career but is proving he’s rapid in the wet.

Filip Salac took home fourth 0.006 behind Surra with Ayumu Sasaki in P5, some names you wouldn’t consistently expect to see in the top five that’s absolutely sure, in sixth Dennis Foggia was able to improve on a tough weekend which has seen him way down the order all weekend long, he made his way into Q2 saving himself a lot of work later on today and signifying a chance at another podium come Sunday’s race, just behind were Adrian Fernandez then title leader Pedro Acosta 0.004 seconds back who has a chance at taking the title this weekend.

Rounding out the top 10 we saw Stefano Nepa and Darryn Binder with Lorenzo Fellon, Izan Guevara, Andi Farid Izdihar and debutant Daniel Holgado all securing places in Q2.

Riders who will need to go via Q1 are Jaume Masia, Andrea Migno, Niccolo Antonelli and Romano Fenati.
