Moto2: Rookie Marcos Ramirez leads FP1 in Portimao

Incredibly impressive rookie Marcos Ramirez leads FP1 as MotoGP heads to Portugal.

Marcos Ramirez takes P1 overall in Moto2 as the class stays true to its form, incredibly close times as always with Ramirez beating Di Giannantonio by just 0.010, an unbelievably tight gap to P2, Luca Marini was the third-placed man, once again only 0.059 from P1.

Remy Gardner was the first rider to crack 0.100 from P1 in P4, finishing 0.141 from Ramirez in his last SAG outing before he heads to the Red Bull KTM Ajo team for a title challenge before a potential Tech3 MotoGP move, hinted by the contract Jorge Martin was also given by the team, plus KTM’s interest in Gardner who tried to sign him to replace Zarco.

Marco Bezzecchi was the fifth-placed rider ahead of Augusto Fernandez who is showing some speed after an incredibly disappointing season, he was expected to be a title contender and has struggled all year long.

Nicolo Bulega finishes in P7 ahead of last time out podium finisher Hector Garzo who’s gained many fans thanks to last weekends display.

Xavi Vierge and Jorge Martin close the top 10 as title contender Sam Lowes finishes in P11, struggling with his hand injury but only 0.614 from P1.
