MotoGP Rumour: Luca Marini to VR46 MotoGP team in 2021 – RUMOUR

Luca Marini is rumoured to be replacing Tito Rabat on the MotoGP grid in 2021, but not in the Avintia team.

There has been a murmur that one of Avintia’s 2021 grid slots has been bought by the VR46 group, opening the doors for Luca Marini to step up into MotoGP, hopefully as the Moto2 World Champion.

The Avintia team have signed Tito Rabat for the 2021 season with the other seat to be occupied by Enea Bastianini who has signed a contract with Ducati for the 2021 season, replacing Johann Zarco at the Avintia team as the Frenchman moves to the Pramac squad.

This rumour has been confirmed by Avintia team manager Ruben Xaus when he said to Simon Crafar, “When we saw difficult to renew places, it was time to move apart & give the keys to somebody else.”

Majorly hinting that one of their seats is now gone. It is also very common knowledge that Tito Rabat has received an offer from Ducati to race in WorldSBK for 2021 with full factory support, a great offer which would more than likely see the Spaniard fight for wins again.

With Marini in MotoGP, this will mean Rossi will have to fight firstly against his own half-brother but also against his own team which could be an interesting scenario.

More is to be confirmed at Aragon.
