MotoGP: OFFICIAL Johann Zarco and Jorge Martin to Pramac Ducati

A long awaited decision has finally been confirmed, Johann Zarco and Jorge Martin will ride for Pramac Ducati in 2021.

Johann Zarco will move from the Avintia MotoGP team where he receives factory support to the Pramac squad, the 2 x Moto2 World Champion bringing his wealth of experience to the team, having ridden 5 different manufacturers motorcycles in the MotoGP class. Zarco endured success with Yamaha in 2017 and 2018 before struggling in KTM for 2019, splitting with them mid season.

He was offered a lifeline by Ducati and has performed beyond expectations, scoring Avintia’s first MotoGP podium at Brno with 3rd place.

2018 Moto3 World Champion Jorge Martin will join the Frenchman in the team, he has been rumoured to be joining for months and an official announcement has now been made. Martin is currently fighting for the Moto2 championship, however this fight has been hampered due to testing positive to COVID-19 at Misano, forcing him to sit out of both races. He has 5 x Moto2 podiums, scoring 3 this season and 1 x race win at Austria and will be looking to continue this form at Ducati.

Paolo Campinoti, Pramac Racing Team Owner: “We are happy to have reached the agreement with Johann and Jorge. We want to continue an important project that is giving us great satisfaction. The sporting qualities and the winning mentality of the two riders are extremely well known: expectations are therefore high. We know Johann well and we have a very positive feeling with him: the same will be with Jorge.”

The pair will replace the departing Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia who move up to the factory team.
