MotoGP: OFFICIAL – Francesco Bagnaia to the Factory Ducati team

Francesco Bagnaia will join current teammate Jack Miller in red for 2021, riding for the factory Ducati team.

The 2018 Moto2 World Champion will move up to the factory squad after an impressive second year with the Pramac squad, taking his maiden podium and even leading at Misano 2 before he suffered an ‘unexplained’ crash. Ducati have put their faith in him, choosing him over Johann Zarco to replace Andrea Dovizioso in the team. He will be expected to continue his MotoGP rise to the top and contest for the title with Jack Miller.

Francesco Bagnaia: I chose to be a Ducati rider long time before becoming the Moto2 World Champion in 2018 and they chose me even before knowing that one day I would have made it. Before then, I was someone who was going fast but never brought home any big result. It’s been our bet and Ducati chose to believe in me before anyone else did. We did not know how it would have turned out in the end, however, if I could go back I would do everything again.

I can just say that I am the happiest person in the world, it’s a dream come true. Being an official Ducati Rider has always been an ambition of mine and I made it thanks to those who never stopped believing in me, even throughout the tough times.
A special thanks goes to Claudio Domenicali, Gigi Dall’Ingna, Paolo Ciabatti, Davide Tardozzi for trusting me. Thanks to the Pramac Racing Team for making me part of their family. Thanks to the VR46 Riders Academy for supporting me all these years.
