WorldSBK Estoril FP1: Toprak Razgatlioglu tops the first Portuguese session
Turkish sensation Toprak Razgatlioglu leads the opening session in Estoril.
Toprak Razgatlioglu was the fastest rider in this morning’s session in Estoril as the World Superbikes boys arrive at their second round in two weeks following their Aragon season opener last weekend, the Turkish rider was able to beat the KRT duo of Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes in P2 and P3 with Rea a massive 0.581 seconds from Toprak’s time, Toprak was also the only rider to break under the 1:37 lap time barrier with a time of 1:36.920 compared to a 1:37.501 of Rea.
Scott Redding finished the session as the fourth fastest rider leading four independent riders from P5 to P8 proving that the level of the independent bikes isn’t far off the factory boys with Eugene Laverty coming in not only as the fastest independent man in P5 but also as the fastest BMW joined by Jonas Folger as the second-fastest Beemer in P7.
The duo surrounded Chaz Davies who once again is proving Ducati may have made the wrong move demoting the Welshman. Garrett Gerloff was the 8th placed rider in the session and the final independent rider in the top 10 leading Tom Sykes and Michael Ruben Rinaldi.
