Moto2 Valencia FP2: Remy Gardner goes top as he chases title

Remy Gardner takes P1 in FP2 ahead of his teammate as Moto2 all improve.

The title battle hots up once more as Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez shoot up the time sheets and the top four are separated by just 0.087 seconds, ironically Gardner’s race number. After struggling in the damp FP1 session this morning both Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez have improved to finish in P1 and P2 in FP2 at Valencia, the pair split by only 0.008 seconds and the championship still on the line.

The entire Moto2 field all improved their times this afternoon with Augusto Fernandez winning the season-long battle for third place today overall ahead of Celestino Vietti who again goes with the flow and improves with the top guys, he is absolutely gunning for a podium finish this weekend and it will be interesting to see how he qualifies tomorrow!

He finished ahead of the Petronas SRT duo of Xavi Vierge and Jake Dixon, Dixon expected to be announced at his new team very shortly putting in a good show for the Valencian crowd behind his teammate and only 0.008 seconds ahead of Stefano Manzi who has historically impressed at Valencia taking pole position last year on the MV Agusta.

Rounding out the top 10 were Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Gianntonio with Marcos Ramirez in P10, the Italian riders of this trio moving up to MotoGP next year on Ducati machinery, the first non-Kalex of the session was Aron Canet in P11 leading Hafizh Syahrin on the NTS then Jorge Navarro.
