MotoGP Algarve FP2: Fabio Quartararo stays on top

Fabio Quartararo remains on top overall in MotoGP after FP2.

Fabio Quartararo remains in P1 after FP2 as the top three remain unchanged, once again the Frenchman led a duo of Ducati’s with Francesco Bagnaia at the fore. The Ducati’s unable to match the blistering pace of the newly crowned world champion who put 0.132 seconds between himself and Francesco Bagnaia after completing 21 laps, the most of the field.

Coming home in fourth place was Joan Mir, the Spanish rider improving his time from his morning and remaining well and truly in the picture for a podium finish come Sunday’s race with Pol Espargaro just behind also eyeing up some glory.

Johann Zarco is a rider who has gone walkabouts for most of the year after contesting for the title very early on before dropping off as the season has progressed, still, a P6 in FP2 is a strong result for the Frenchman ahead of Alex Marquez and Aleix Espargaro.

Rounding out the top 10 are Takaaki Nakagami and Alex Rins with Jorge Martin in tow, Martin confirming before the weekend that he was nervous to return to the circuit which nearly ended his career earlier this year.
