WorldSBK Misano FP1: Toprak Razgatlioglu leads as top 3 go within 0.1 seconds

It was tight at the top in this morning’s FP1 session at Misano.

Turkish hero Toprak Razgatlioglu takes the lead in the FP1 session at Misano in the World Superbikes round as 4 independent riders made their way into the top 6. It was a tough, tight battle for the top spot in the session with Razgatlioglu leading the way as the top 3 riders finish within 0.1 seconds of his lap time of 1:34.848, said riders were Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Garrett Gerloff, home man Rinaldi rocking special custom boots this weekend to commemorate his Italian roots, Gerloff’s time was only 0.075 from Toprak putting in the third-fastest time as the first independent rider.

Finishing 0.468 seconds back to Gerloff in P4 was Chaz Davies who led a fairly spread out field and was the second-fastest non-factory rider ahead of an impressive Axel Bassani on the MotoCorsa Ducati, the Italian has previously competed in the Italian Superbike championship and will know this place very well. Tito Rabat is another rider benefitting from experience, the Spaniard raced here twice last year in MotoGP whilst the entire Superbike grid haven’t seen this place since 2019, since the last Superbike round here the entire track has been resurfaced.

Leon Haslam finished in seventh ahead of Jonathan Rea who currently holds a 100% podium record so far this year after 6 races and already looks to be the champion despite only two rounds being completed, he led Alvaro Bautista and Michael van der Mark in P10.

Further down in P11 and P12 were the duo of Alex Lowes and Scott Redding, both title contenders not having a great session with Redding struggling from technical issues only completing a total of 10 laps, lets hope he can get these issues ironed out before it counts towards his championship points.
