Moto3 Emilia Romagna FP1: Andrea Migno leads soaking wet session
Andrea Migno took a 1-2 with his teammate in a wet FP1 in Italy.
It was an Italian 1-2 in a wet FP1 session in Emilia Romagna with both Snipers Team riders leading the way in the wet session with rookie Alberto Surra taking second place behind his teammate Andrea Migno, Surra is proving once again he’s a bit of a wet weather specialist after doing the exact same in FP1 at COTA which was also wet, he will be praying for rain this weekend at his home race in Italy.
Filip Salac came home in third place after being declared fit this week following his scary crash at COTA which left him in hospital, not that it was too much of a worry for him after competing in the 6h of Most EWC endurance race very recently taking second place in class, Salac finished ahead of wildcard Mario Aji. Aji has been a strong rider in the FIM CEV Moto3 class and Red Bull Rookies this year with a pole position at Catalunya, he’s Indonesia’s best hope at a rider who can battle for the points therefore it’s no surprise he’s extremely popular, he led last time winner and rookie Izan Guevara.
Fellow Indonesian Andi Farid Izdihar joined Aji in the top six in wet conditions, no surprise given the type of weather both riders are used to and have grown up racing in western Asia where the wet weather specialists come from, he led Kaito Toba then Stefano Nepa as rookie Lorenzo Fellon finds himself in the top 10 once again, the rain acting as a great leveller for the field as Niccolo Antonelli rounded off the top 10.
Further down the order the title contenders Pedro Acosta and Dennis Foggia finished in P15 and P17, Acosta has the chance to take the title this weekend by outscoring Foggia by 20 points, a slim chance for sure but not impossible.
