MotoGP Emilia Romagna FP1: Johann Zarco tops the rain affected FP1

Johann Zarco led the way in FP1 under the rain at Misano by 1.4 seconds.

Frenchman Johann Zarco went fastest in FP1 in Misano leading the MotoGP field by a huge 1.4 seconds as the French rider finds his confidence in wet weather following a DNF at COTA after a tough weekend. He’s arrived in Misano with data from the previous round here and instantly goes top, if it stays wet like this we could be seeing a strong weekend, but, it is only FP1 and we can’t put all our hopes down on one rider as of yet, Zarco led Marc Marquez in second place, the last time winner had a strong race last time here in Misano and genuinely could battle for the podium come Sunday, he led Jack Miller who saved a high side to come home in third.

Jorge Martin comes home in fourth place only 0.042 behind Miller with Franco Morbidelli in fifth place, Morbidelli looking incredibly strong on home soil, if his knee holds up his weekend we could see some strong results from the Italian who led Francesco Bagnaia in P6, Bagnaia suffered a crash in the session but was straight back up onto his feet.

Of course we couldn’t talk about wet weather without mentioning KTM, we have a trio of them in P7, P8 and P9 with Miguel Oliveira leading the way over the Tech3 boys of Danilo Petrucci then Iker Lecuona in P9, Lecuona a big lover of the rain with a huge lack of fear in these conditions, rounding out the top 10 was Joan Mir as title leader Fabio Quartararo once again struggled in the wet coming home in P18.
