Moto2 Styria FP3: Remy Gardner stays in P1
Remy Gardner leads the way going into qualifying.
Remy Gardner and Marco Bezzecchi are going head to head in Moto2 this weekend with the pair battling for the top spots in every session, Gardner took the lead in the FP3 session by 0.075 seconds ahead of the Italian who won here last year. No doubt there will be a KTM bonus on the line this weekend at their home race and Gardner is absolutely gunning for it to get more car parts for his project car!
Aron Canet put the Boscoscuro Moto2 bike in third place, the Spaniard is having a super-strong weekend and looks certain to take a podium here, remembering 2020 Canet took pole position at the circuit before crashing out of the race, his speed showed huge amounts of promise and he’s continuing that again this year. He leads both Marc VDS boys with Augusto Fernandez edging out Sam Lowes in the top 5, the pair split by just 0.005 seconds.
Raul Fernandez is struggling a little this weekend, something which can be forgiven given his rookie status, despite his struggles he is still in the top 6, he only really looks like he’s struggling as he’s not within the top 2 as we have come to expect from the hugely fast rookie who is tipped for a Tech3 MotoGP seat, he leads another impressive rookie namely Ai Ogura in seventh place.
Taking another Q2 is Lorenzo Dalla Porta, the Italian is super impressive this year despite the results not backing this up, keep your eyes on the Italian, he leads Marcos Ramirez and Marcel Schrotter who cap off the top 10.
Also going via Q2 is Tony Arbolino, Thomas Luthi, Somkiat Chantra and Xavi Vierge with Fabio Diggia, Joe Roberts, Bo Bendsneyder, Jake Dixon, Jorge Navarro and more going via Q1.
