Moto3 Sachsenring FP2: Pedro Acosta goes top

Pedro Acosta takes the lead in Moto3 in FP2.

Moto3 Championship leader Pedro Acosta continues to impress as he leads the FP2 session at Sachsenring by only 0.044 seconds to Gabriel Rodrigo in second place, Acosta’s lead has been cut down quite significantly recently by Sergio Garcia so the impressive 17-year-old rookie will be doing all he can to ensure he’s back up there this weekend battling for victory, he’s been able to lead the last few races but hasn’t held it long enough to secure any major points and further his title lead, we will find out come Sunday if he can extend his lead further or lose more points.

Deniz Oncu finished the session in third place, the Turkish rider is fresh off a debut podium in the class and will be aiming for more glory this weekend in Germany as he leads Tatsuki Suzuki then Romano Fenati to fifth place.

Stefano Nepa once again finds himself in the top positions and has been showing a lot of promise these past few weeks, the podium is not too far out of reach for the Italian rider who led Darryn Binder in P7, Dennis Foggia continued his very strange year at Catalunya, he’s P10 in the standings but has only scored points in two races with a P2 and a race win at Mugello, some consistent points on the board will bode well for the Italian if he can score this weekend.

Impressive rookie Izan Guevara finished as ninth quickest and has spent much of his season in the shadow of Pedro Acosta, Guevara is certainly one to watch, Jaume Masia rounded off the top 10.

Sergio Garcia finished in a low P21 despite sitting in second place overall, he will need to massively improve this if he wants to get into the Q2 session for tomorrow.
