MotoGP: Sam Lowes destroys Moto2 lap record whilst Ogura takes Moto3 pole

Sam Lowes sets a new Moto2 lap record whilst Ogura takes pole in Moto3.

Sam Lowes and Marco Bezzecchi have ruined the previous Moto2 lap record at Misano set by Johann Zarco in 2015. Bezzecchi broke the lap record in F3 by 0.222 just for Lowes to pound it into the ground in Q2, beating the new record by 0.342, an incredible time which was also broken by Gardner and Marini during the qualifying session.

Despite taking pole position, Sam Lowes will begin tomorrows race from the back of the grid following an incident at Styria deemed as irresponsible riding, meaning Remy Gardner will start tomorrows race from pole position and Luca Marini in second.

Row 2 was opened with Marco Bezzecchi just behind his teammate, the pair were joined by fellow countryman Enea Bastianini then Xavi Vierge.

Marcel Schrotter was the fastest man on row three ahead of Augusto Fernandez then Tetsuta Nagashima. Fabio Di Giannantonio was the 10th fastest rider in the session.
