Jerez MotoGP: Fabio Quatararo takes pole position, breaking the lap record
In a blisteringly fast (and hot) qualifying session at Jerez, Fabio Quartararo didn’t let the heat get to him and takes pole position ahead of Maverick Vinales then Marc Marquez
The pace was incredibly fast in Jerez this weekend with 21-year-old Fabio Quartararo proving this in qualifying with a lap time of 1:36.705, 01.139 faster than future teammate Maverick Vinales.
Marc Marquez looked set to take pole with nearly -0.250 faster in sector 3, however lost this in the last sector and was beaten by Fabio Quartararo and Maverick Vinales in the following laps.
Fabio said he feels he could’ve lapped even faster, noting that he made a mistake, mentioning that he had to slow a little due to Jack Miller and Alex Rins’ crashes at Turn 11.
The 2 fastest Ducati’s are Francesco Bagnaia then Jack Miller in P4 and P5 respectively with Miller crashing late on in the session at Turn 11.
P9 finisher Alex Rins had an incredibly fast crash after Miller at Turn 11 and stood up holding his collarbone, there will be more updates as we receive them.
