MotoGP Transfer rumours: Jorge Martin, Enea Bastianini, Francesco Bagnaia and Johann Zarco

Ducati are looking to make some impressive moves in the coming weeks following Andrea Dovizioso announcing he is leaving Ducati.

Ducati have had their eyes on a few riders over the last few months with some of their own riders also impressing. There is a spot open at the factory Ducati team and Bagnaia and Zarco are eyeing this up for 2021.

Paolo Ciabatti has confirmed on Friday at the Styrian GP that Ducati are in talks with Francesco Bagnaia for a two-year deal renewal, however, they are yet to confirm which team with Pramac Ducati boss Francesco Guidotti saying that he would like to retain Bagnaia in the Pramac squad, but would be happy to lose him to the factory team as it would prove he has done a good job.

If Bagnaia was to step up to the factory team, this would vacate a second seat at the Pramac squad with Jack Miller also leaving for the factory team. It is all but confirmed that KTM Moto2 rider Jorge Martin will replace Miller for 2021, in a deleted tweet, Martin showed his disappointment on twitter when KTM announced their 2021 signings without Martin’s name being mentioned which shows he may be looking elsewhere.

Johann Zarco has impressed so far this season on the Ducati supported Avintia bike which historically has been a backmarker, taking the teams first podium at Brno this season, Zarco will be looking to make a move to the Pramac squad onto current machinery for 2021 as he is currently riding a one-year-old GP19.

Enea Bastianini is also a name who was hinted at by Ciabatti who said “We will also continue with Zarco and maybe we will also include an Italian Moto2 rider,” clearly indicating Bastianini who has won two Moto2 races so far this season, however, Pramac has also been linked with Luca Marini. Bastianini could slot into the space vacated by Zarco at Avintia and ride for the Avintia team with official support, it is also an option to put Bastianini into the Pramac team and leave Zarco at the Avintia team where he has shown to be comfortable.

These are currently just rumours but they have a level of traction to them.
