Moto3 Portimao FP2: Gabriel Rodrigo is the fastest man
Moto3 Veteran Gabriel Rodrigo was the quickest rider in the Moto3 FP2 session.
Gabriel Rodrigo was the fastest rider in the Moto3 session as the times improve by a huge 7 seconds after a wet dismal first FP1 session. It was an old-timer 1-2 in Moto3 as the veterans occupied the top 2 positions in the class with Rodrigo leading Andrea Migno in second place, both two riders who have spent the last 6+ years racing in the lightweight class and will be looking for a way to escape this year into Moto2, the duo lead Jaume Masia who was the race winner in the season opener at Qatar.
Sergio Garcia is the fourth fastest rider overall this session, the Spanish rider is enjoying his time in the Aspar team and is looking stronger and stronger each session, he leads another veteran namely Romano Fenati in P5 who leads a rider at the other end of the spectrum, Pedro Acosta finished in P6, the rookie championship leader has a P2 and a race win to his name from pit lane and has taken the class by storm in his debut year.
Tatsuki Suzuki placed himself in P7 ahead of an incredibly impressive Jason Dupasquier who session by session improves and looks like a really strong prospect for the future. Rounding off the top 10 we saw Dennis Foggia and Niccolo Antonelli who stood on the podium at Qatar.
Further down was Izan Guevara in P13, another very solid rookie whose performances have been numbed down by Acosta’s impressiveness however the Junior World Champion is one to watch for sure. John McPhee occupied the P14 spot after a crash with Kaito Toba in P20.
