MotoGP: Calendar updated, two rounds at Qatar plus Portimao return

MotoGP drops Texas and Argentina in favour of Qatar and Portimao.

The 2021 MotoGP calendar has been updated, this is because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has impeded the original plans to start in Qatar before heading to America for the Texan and Argentinian races. These races are now set to be postponed for later use if the pandemic allows MotoGP to be able to travel to these countries.

The MotoGP opener will remain at Qatar with the dates of 26th-28th March meaning no changes have been made, however, a second race has been planned for the following weekend at the same circuit. Another change is that the European side of the season begins earlier at fan favourite Portimao which saw Miguel Oliveira crowned the race winner last year with a dominant display.

After this race the season will continue as normal at Jerez before heading to Italy, Catalonia, Germany, Netherlands, Finland, Austria, Great Britain, Alcañiz, San Marino before the fly aways as standard in Japan, Thailand, Australia then Valencia to cap off the season.

These races are all pending on the pandemic’s restrictions; if any changes are made updates will be provided.
