MotoGP: Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin tops overall crash list as Zarco leads MotoGP

Crashing, every rider does it, it doesn’t matter who you are, if you race, you WILL crash.

Some riders, however, crash a little more than others, in 2020, that’s the case for Johann Zarco, Kasma Daniel and Gabriel Rodrigo who topped the crash lists of their respective classes, giving their safety gear suppliers some work to do replacing and fixing their gear.

Johann Zarco was the rider in the MotoGP class who topped the crash list, crashing a huge 15 times over the season consisting of 14 races, suffering 3 x DNF’s in the season, just behind Zarco was rookie Alex Marquez, taking a total of 14 crashes, only taking 2 x DNF’s over the season which only came in races 11 and 12.

In Moto2 it was Malaysian rider Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin who found the kitty litter the most, crashing a huge 20 times in his rookie season spanning over 15 races, he took 6 x DNF’s to his name and had a very tricky season in Moto2 with the worry of losing his ride to financial difficulties. In a close second place with 19 crashes was resident crasher Jorge Navarro who last year was able to clean his act up before crashing out more times in 2020 than 2019, Navarro crashed a total of 19 times, taking an eye-watering 8 DNF’s, more than half the races of the season.

In Moto3, Gabriel Rodrigo continued his crashing form leading the Moto3 crash standings, crashing a massive 18 times over the season but only suffering 2 x DNF’s, crashing in practice and not when it actually mattered during a race. Rodrigo is facing potentially his last Moto3 year if he cannot pick his act up and start taking podiums, outclassed by his rookie teammate Jeremy Alcoba in 2020.

Alonso Lopez was second in Moto3 with 15 crashes, Lopez is also a rider who is not scared of a crash, however a move to Husqvarna machinery and some bad luck has contributed to this with 7 DNF’s, starting just 14 races meaning he had a 50% DNF record, a tough season for the Spaniard.
