Moto2/3 Le Mans: Jake Dixon tops FP2 as Filip Salac leads the Moto3 session

Jake Dixon and Filip Salac lead the way in the Moto2 and Moto3 sessions in Le Mans.

In his last lap of the session, Jorge Martin stole P1 from Jake Dixon who looked sure to lead the session until the last lap as the session lapped 14 seconds faster than FP1.

However, drama followed as the lap time was cancelled, promoting Dixon to P1.

The session was marred by a monumental hi-side from title leader Luca Marini at the top of the hill at T5, crashing down heavily and has a suspected broken ankle.

Jake Dixon was able to capitalise on a drying track, lapping 0.3 seconds faster than P3, Jorge Martin ended up in second place with a 0.3 gap over Italian Marco Bezzecchi.

The Marc VDS boys were able to put in some good lap times in P4 and P5 with Sam Lowes leading Augusto Fernandez.

In seventh place was Jorge Navarro who finished ahead of ex-teammate Aron Canet, both on Speed Up machinery with the IntactGP boys just behind them with Luthi in P8 and Schrotter in P9.

Xavi Vierge the 10th placed man, 0.746 from teammate Dixon.

 

Moto3

We saw a much dryer Moto3 session with lap times 11 seconds faster than this mornings session, Filip Salac was the rider to capitalise on this the most, leading the session by just 0.039 over Romano Fenati. It was then a huge jump of 0.525 back to Scotsman John McPhee sat in third place with the rest of the top 10 staggered behind McPhee.

Fourth place Jaume Masia finished with a time 0.616 from P1 and the last rider to finish within a second of Salac was Andrea Migno, 0.991 seconds from P1 in P5.

Wet weather specialist Khairul Idham Pawi took sixth place which was a surprise result given his season so far, finishing ahead of title leader Ai Ogura.

In eighth place sat Celestino Vietti with fellow VR46 Academy rider Niccolo Antonelli just behind him in P9, the pair were joined by Yuki Kunii 1.331 from P1.
