MotoGP: Pit Beirer regarding Oliveira and Espargaro: “It was unnecessary to keep this fight going”

At the first race in Austria, Miguel Oliveira and Pol Espargaro came together in an incident with some harsh words exchanged.

Following their crash during the first race in Austria, Oliveira said that Espargaro was not very intelligent with Espargaro firing back saying that Oliveira was riding the bike he [Espargaro] made. Pit Beirer was the man who decided to put a stop to this quarrel between the two riders with KTM’s ‘family’ model. Both riders were summoned to his office before the Styrian GP to put an end of all this drama.

Speaking to Speedweek.com Beirer said that he feels that the drama is over and doesn’t want to talk about it anymore saying, “The riders are always riders, when things crackle a bit, you have to get the whole family around the table, look each other in the eye and fix the problems immediately. We did it just before the Styrian GP, so we were good for the weekend.”

Also confirming that neither rider is to blame saying, “If one [rider] runs wide, he immediately will try to re-enter, while if another sees a space, he certainly goes for it. For us, it was a classic race accident. Therefore the search for someone to blame was never an issue for us.”

The riders shook hands after the race but it is clear that neither are friends anymore.
