MotoGP: Pol Espargaro reacts to Oliveira’s intelligence comments

Pol Espargaro has said he feels disrespected and is shocked at comments made by Miguel Oliveira following their crash in the Austrian GP.

In an interview with French network Canal+, Miguel Oliveira did not hold back saying that “not everyone is born with the same intelligence” in regards to Pol Espargaro.

Previously Espargaro said that Oliveira and himself talked about the crash, labelling it a race incident and apologised to each other, however, Oliveira laid the blame purely on Espargaro when speaking to press.

When speaking to press at the Styrian GP, Espargaro was shocked at these comments saying “I was really shocked, because I thought our relationship with Miguel was very good, I’ve been in that situation many times where maybe sometimes it was my fault and I was really hot but I never missed the respect for my rivals, even for a team-mate that was not a good word.”

“The first thing you learn in this MotoGP world is that you cannot fight against your team-mate because the factory [which] is paying you doesn’t want it. It is a very bad image [for the brand].

I heard him a few minutes ago with the press and he was not even saying sorry for these words. I would never say that ‘we have not all been born with the same intelligence’, it is pretty hard and especially because the bike he is riding is the bike I have made! Imagine if I would have [Oliveira’s] intelligence to make a bike, we would be winning last year already.” Said Pol Espargaro.

Espargaro finished saying “So, it’s not good for sure, and for sure a huge lack of respect.”

Let us hope that the pair can show their intelligence and respect on track this weekend, Oliveira will be looking to not be involved in a crash with another KTM following Binder in Andalucia and Espargaro at Austria.
