WSBK- Race 1: Redding wins, taking back the championship lead
WSBK Race 1 today did not disappoint, a battle right down to the final lap.
Right from the start, we saw drama in the World SBK race 1 at Aragon as Eugene Laverty crashed on the sighting lap, instantly ruining his race.
Alex Lowes was battling for the top positions but a hi-side meant he was out of contention, with his bike and him sliding down the middle of the track, he was very fortunate not to be hit by any incoming traffic.
The battle was between Jonathan Rea and Scott Redding for the win with the pair trading places multiple times, however, it was clear to see that Rea was struggling with issues and went off track with four laps to go, gifting Redding first place. Rea would then come under attack from Welshman Chaz Davies who was hot on his tail after starting the race from ninth place.
Jonathan Rea would then lose the second place to Chaz Davies with Davies on the chase to catch Scott Redding in front.
Alas, the win was not to be for Davies taking home second place in a Ducati 1-2 with Redding taking his third win of the season and the title lead.
Jonathan Rea would take home third place just ahead of Michael Ruben Rinaldi in fourth place meaning we had 3 Ducati’s in the top 4.
