Moto3 Algarve FP1: The title battle hots up, Dennis Foggia leads FP1

Dennis Foggia led the FP1 session in Algarve this morning as he eyes up the title.

Dennis Foggia went fastest in this mornings FP1 session at Portimao as he eyes up the Moto3 championship, it’ll be a huge job to overhaul the 21 point lead Pedro Acosta has this weekend. All Acosta needs to do is win the race to be crowned champion, the same way he did earlier this season when he beat Foggia on the final lap at the same track!

Foggia led the opening session by a massive 0.752 seconds to Stefano Nepa in P2 as he lays down the gauntlet for this weekend, he knows what he has to do and is giving his all to achieve it. Finishing up in third place was Filip Salac on the KTM, his first ride around the circuit on the KTM after switching from the Honda, promising for sure.

Andrea Migno and John McPhee rounded out the top give, the pair split by a mere 0.004 seconds with Pedro Acosta hot on their tails in sixth place, the title leader needs to outscore Foggia by five points, leaving Portimao with a 26 point lead to be crowned the 2021 Moto3 World Champion.

Finishing up the session in seventh was Jeremy Alcoba, the young Spaniard took his maiden Moto3 podium at the circuit last year and looks strong heading into this weekend leading Darryn Binder by only 0.004 seconds. Rounding out the top 10 were Jaume Masia and Izan Guevara with Ayumu Sasaki and Romano Fenati following closely, Fenati only 0.001 back from Sasaki.
