Moto3 Emilia Romagna Qualifying: Niccolo Antonelli comes from Q1 to take pole

Niccolo Antonelli takes a tricky pole position at home in Misano.

Niccolo Antonelli adds another Moto3 pole position to his career tally taking the top position by a massive 0.611 seconds over the second-fastest man Filip Salac, Antonelli put in a stellar performance even confidently bailing on his final lap when he realised he had secured pole position at his home circuit of Misano, he came via Q1 with some experience in his pocket of the track conditions and was able to use that to his advantage to take pole position leading Filip Salac. Salac is another rider who continues to show speed in the wet conditions taking another front row start, this time on a KTM after taking pole position earlier this year at Sachsenring on a Honda.

Riccardo Rossi once again dazzles with another P3 to his name after coming from Q1, his arrival to the front row means KTM locked out the front row and expanding even further they locked out the top six places with Izan Guevara on the Gas Gas branded KTM, Guevara led the second row ahead of the Red Bull KTM Ajo boys with Masia another Q1 finisher, Acosta knows he can win the title tomorrow and has put in a solid time to take P5 after some less than desirable qualifying positions as of late.

Ending the KTM streak is Alberto Surra in P7 on the Honda, the rookie is really impressing and has done all weekend long, he was actually in a provisional P3 briefly before losing the time thanks to a crash from another rider, the Italian rider has been strong all weekend long and could stun everyone come Sunday’s race! Joining him on row three are Stefano Nepa and Xavier Artigas as Ayumu Sasaki rounded out the top 10.

Title contender Dennis Foggia once again struggled in the rain coming home in P14, he will be hoping for a better result tomorrow if he wants to stop Acosta from taking the title.
