Moto3 Aragon FP1: Gabriel Rodrigo leads as top three finish within 0.100

Gabriel Rodrigo led an extremely competitive Moto3 FP1 session this morning in Aragon.

The ever-competitive Moto3 championship continued to live up to its name in this morning’s slightly cooler session at the Aragon circuit based in Alcañiz, Teruel. Malaysian rider Syarifuddin Azman also made his first-ever appearance in the world championship finishing in a respectable P25.

We saw the top three riders split by a mere 0.099 seconds with Gabriel Rodrigo leading the way over Filip Salac then Niccolo Antonelli, Antonelli was able to battle for victory at Silverstone after missing the Austrian races through injury, after losing out by the smallest of margins to Romano Fenati there’s no doubt he will be out for vengeance this weekend.

Pedro Acosta was the first rider outside of the 0.100 bracket with a time 0.237 seconds from the leader Rodrigo, this week Acosta was officially confirmed to step up to Moto2 for 2022 with the Red Bull KTM Ajo squad alongside Augusto Fernandez, with just six rounds to go Acosta will be aiming to add to his title lead this weekend, he finished ahead of Andrea Migno then Darryn Binder, Binder’s teammate John McPhee absent from Moto3 as he is making his Moto2 debut with the Petronas SRT squad.

Last time winner Romano Fenati and his teammate Adrian Fernandez rounded off the top 10 as many of the ex-CEV riders found themselves towards the front end of the pack including Xavier Artigas and Lorenzo Fellon with Izan Guevara in P17.
