Moto2 Austria FP2: Remy Gardner leads FP2

Remy Gardner goes back to P1 in the Moto2 FP2 session.

Remy Gardner was the fastest rider in the Moto2 FP2 session this afternoon leading Moto2’s latest hotshot Ai Ogura by 0.132. Despite the previous MotoGP session being wet, the Moto2 boys were allowed to have full reign over a dry race track with Gardner breaking back under the 1:28 barrier, the only rider to do so.

Ogura finished in second place, continuing his pretty darn impressive form this year, overshadowed by the brilliance of Raul Fernandez who finished in third place in this FP2 session. Ogura has adapted to the bike incredibly well and took second place in qualifying last week off the back of some very strong results as a rookie.

In fourth place we saw Sam Lowes lead his teammate for fifth place, the Marc VDS boys doing a solid job but missing that 10% extra required to be able to battle for consistent race wins against the tough Red Bull KTM Ajo and VR46 riders. Lorenzo Dalla Porta once again impresses in P6, his results in the races not matching how well he is going in the qualifying and practice sessions, he needs a strong result or two to prove he’s worthy of a 2022 seat.

Marco Bezzecchi finished in P7 ahead of Aron Canet and Marcel Schrotter as Thomas Luthi made a rare top 10 appearance.
