MotoGP: Fausto Gresini out of coma but remains on ventilator

Fausto Gresini’s condition has been defined as ‘serious but stable’ by doctors.

Following hospitalisation due to his worsening condition caused by COVID-19, Fausto Gresini no longer is in a coma but remains sedated for the time being, however, is conscious and is receiving breathing assistance from a ventilator to ensure the amount of oxygen in his blood remains at acceptable levels.

Currently, his situation is stable but he requires more investigations to see what his true conditions are, Dr Nicola Cilloni of the Alberto Pizzardi Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit in Bologna said in a statement,

“Fausto Gresini’s general health conditions are still characterised by severe respiratory insufficiency. Tests performed revealed that interstitial pneumonia is still present and requires mechanical ventilation and moderate sedation to be maintained. This allows the amount of oxygen in the blood to remain sufficient.
