MotoGP: Fausto Gresini Hospitalised following COVID-19 Diagnosis

Fausto Gresini has been hospitalised following a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

The two-time 125cc World Champion Fausto Gresini who boasts 21 wins and 47 podiums across his 125cc career has been hospitalised following a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, he was diagnosed shortly before Christmas and isolated at home however was hospitalised in Imola where he lives.

Following this hospitalisation, he was moved today to the Maggiore Carlo Alberto Pizzardi hospital in Bologna which has a specialised COVID-19 ward and will be able to monitor his condition better.

He is the team owner of the Gresini Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP teams which has won two world titles with Daijiro Kato in 2001 and Toni Elias in 2010 and most recently has worked with Aprilia housing their factory MotoGP efforts until the end of 2021.

The team have posted the below statement today:

“Following the COVID-19 positivity discovered shortly before the Christmas break Fausto Gresini was hospitalized on 27th December at the Santa Maria Della Scaletta hospital after an initial isolation period at home.

The Gresini Racing Team Principal was transported today to the Maggiore Carlo Alberto Pizzardi hospital in Bologna, in a more specialised ward for Covid-19 care. Fausto’s conditions are constantly monitored. Further updates will follow.”
