Moto3 Portimao: Raul Fernandez on pole (again)

Raul Fernandez takes yet another pole position ahead of his Moto2 move for 2021.

Raul Fernandez takes his last Moto3 pole position ahead of his move to Moto2 for 2021, he leads a chaotic Moto3 qualifying session which nearly saw Ai Ogura start from last place, setting a Q1 time good enough for Q2 in the dying seconds of the session with Tony Arbolino’s strategy falling apart, starting from the ninth row.

Raul Fernandez was able to take pole position ahead of Moto3 rookie Jeremy Alcoba with an outstanding time worthy of P2, his first front-row start in the lightweight class, joining the pair on the front row is Japanese rider Ayumu Sasaki who has impressed since his move to KTM machinery with the Tech3 Moto3 squad.

Sasaki was followed by two more Japanese riders with Tatsuki Suzuki and Ai Ogura in P4 and P5, joining the two on the second row was Albert Arenas who hopes to take the Moto3 crown tomorrow.

Niccolo Antonelli makes an appearance on the third row in P7, he is joined by the Leopard lads of Dennis Foggia and Jaume Masia, the pair having a huge top speed advantage at the circuit.

Despite crashing, Gabriel Rodrigo was able to take P10 overall, major shoutout to Barry Baltus in P13 also in his last Moto3 race.
