Moto2 Europe: Xavi Vierge takes pole position in the Moto2 class

Xavi Vierge takes pole position in the dying seconds in the Moto2 qualifying session.

Xavi Vierge takes pole position in the last few laps of the Moto2 qualifying session, taking the P1 position from Joe Roberts who took P1 from Sam Lowes just seconds before.

Sam Lowes dominated the session, lapping 2 seconds faster than everyone else until they realised that you could go as fast as Lowes did, then the lap times tumbled down with Joe Roberts being the first man to break Lowes’ lap time which Lowes was unable to beat Joe’s time.

It looked like Roberts would take pole position, until the dark horse Xavi Vierge came out of the shadows to ruin the party, taking pole position, docking Sam Lowes to third place.

Remy Gardner had some great pace at the end of the session and put in a time worthy of P4, giving him the chance to fight for the win tomorrow.

Moto2 rivals Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin finished in P5 and P6 on the second row.

Luca Marini, fresh from his new MotoGP contract takes the P7 spot, he starts ahead of the Pons boys of Lorenzo Baldassarri then Hector Garzo.

Nicolo Bulega rounded off the top 10 in the session.
