WSBK: Jonathan Rea is the 2020 World Superbike Champion

Following an intense Race 1, Jonathan Rea has been crowned the 2020 World Superbikes champion.

Jonathan Rea, the World SBK ‘GOAT,’ the most successful rider in the World Superbikes championship of all time, has taken his sixth consecutive championship, a first in the championship and a record which can only be beaten by Rea himself.

Rea takes the title with a total of 11 x wins and 17 x podiums, fending off class rookie Scott Redding for the title. It has been his toughest season yet in the class with Redding pushing Rea all the way to the last round of the season.

Redding undeniably has had an outstanding rookie season, pushing Rea harder than he ever has, making Rea up his game higher than ever and Rea has come out on top as champion.

Unfortunately at Race 1 Scott Redding suffered a mechanical issue which handed Rea the title, Rea only needed to outscore Redding by 3 points this weekend.

2021 looks to be an incredible year with Redding going into the season with the bike and track knowledge which he did not have in 2020.
