In the dying minutes of the session, Eugene Laverty snatches pole position.

The lap times came tumbling down at the end of the session with the pole man changing every single lap before the clock put a stop to the action. Eugene Laverty took his first pole for 2 years at the French track on the BMW who have ‘fired’ him for next season, replacing him with Michael van der Mark.

Tom Sykes was the second-fastest man, also on a BMW, marking a 1-2 for the factory who have been improving each round, he starts ahead of ex-teammate Jonathan Rea who looks to take the title this weekend and is on the front row yet again.

Alex Lowes was the fourth-placed man, he had some pace but made a mistake in the last sector on his fastest lap which was his downfall, demoting him to fourth as the pace picked up.

Garett Gerloff is improving every single race, qualifying in fifth place with incredible pace, he is the fastest Yamaha with Michael van der Mark behind him in sixth place.

Michael Ruben Rinaldi was the seventh-placed man ahead of factory Ducati duo of Chaz Davies then Scott Redding who were P9 and P10. The meat in the Ducati sandwich was Loris Baz in P8.
