MotoGP Styria: Sam Lowes and Celestino Vietti take the lead in FP1

Sam Lowes and Celestino Vietti kick off the weekend setting the pace in FP1.

Once again Sam Lowes demonstrates his speed in Austria leading FP1 0.016 ahead of Remy Gardner with last time winner Jorge Martin in third place.

Ex-teammates Nicolo Bulega and Luca Marini finished the session in fourth and fifth respectively. Lowes’ teammate Augusto Fernandez took the sixth spot ahead of Marco Bezzecchi.

Rookie Aron Canet led Enea Bastianini who will be looking to help his championship fight this weekend after a DNF last time out, Marcel Schrotter takes the tenth spot 0.476 from P1.

24 riders were seperated by 1 second.

Moto3

In Moto3 it was 2019 rookie of the year Celestino Vietti who took P1 a whole 0.306 over title leader Albert Arenas with rookie Jeremy Alcoba in P3 overall.

Tony Arbolino and Raul Fernandez were the fourth and fifth fastest men with the pair breaking the 0.500 barrier.

Deniz Oncu who led the race in Austria finished the session in sixth overall ahead of Dennis Foggia and Darryn Binder.

The top 10 spots were rounded off by Jaume Masia in ninth and Ayumu Sasaki in tenth who will be looking to repeat his front-running form of Austria before he was penalised. Sasaki was 0.826 from P1.
