Dovizioso: Don’t rule Marquez out of title fight

Despite Marc Marquez losing 50 points to Fabio Quartararo in the first two rounds, title rival Andrea Dovizioso still believes that Marc Marquez can still win the 2020 MotoGP title

Following a crash resulting in a broken arm at the opening round of the MotoGP season, Marc Marquez was forced to the sidelines at the Andalusian GP despite his best efforts to race and recuperate some points and watch 21-year old Fabio Quartararo win his second MotoGP race, taking 50 out of a potential 50 points.

The current champion expects to be on the grid at Brno with much higher fitness levels than shown at the Andalusian GP. With this in mind, Andrea Dovizioso expects Marc Marquez to still be in contention for the title.
To the fortune of Marquez, Yamaha has suffered two engine failures in two races and all 4 riders are close to reaching their engine allocation which can cause problems further down the line including back of the grid penalties.
“In his entire career, Marc has only made mistakes in one season (2015). If you look at his numbers, when he has a set goal he still makes fewer mistakes. At first, I thought that he would not be able to fight for the championship, but now I think he still has chances, especially since we have to see how Yamaha manages the possible problem that it has with the engines,” stated the three-time runner up Dovizioso.
Dovizioso begun the season in good form with a third-place at Jerez, however, struggled at the race in Andalusia and was shown up by Pramac Ducati riders Jack Miller and potential replacement Francesco Bagnaia who if he continues to show good form could replace the MotoGP veteran at Ducati next year.
