Pol Espargaro believes KTM are “in the game now”
After finishing just one second from a first dry podium finish in the Spanish Grand Prix, Pol Espargaro feels KTM are ready to challenge for the podium consistently.
Pol Espargaro put his KTM RC16 on the grid in P7, however gained a place due to Cal Crutchlow’s withdrawal.
The entire race the Spaniard kept up with the front group battling with Franco Morbidelli and ultimately ending the race in P6.
The future Repsol Honda rider said “Here we are in the level of the others, or even faster because I felt that if I could be alone” Stating that one stage he even felt faster than the group. “I would ride two, three, even sometimes four-tenths faster, and we were riding in 1m39.1s, 2s, 3s, while I could be riding in 1m38.7s, 8s in that rhythm.”
Giving props to his teammates he states “All of us, the four KTMs on the in grid are powerful and strong, especially on race pace. We’re looking forward and we’re in the game now. Brad is going very fast, Miguel and Iker as well.”
Espargaro stated that they are faster than Ducati on the brakes and corner speed, however the Ducati wins on the straights (as expected), even saying that he feels podium finisher Dovizioso was running slower than him.
