Pol Espargaro signs with Repsol Honda for 2021 and 2022
It has been officially confirmed that Pol Espargaro will ride for the Repsol Honda team alongside Marc Marquez for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
The move was arguably the worst kept secret all year, however with KTM having a clause in Espargaro’s contract meaning he could not announce his ride until KTM say so, we have had to wait.
The Moto2 World Champion will bring his wealth of knowledge gained from developing the KTM over to Honda, who have majorly struggled in the development department for the last few years with Cal Crutchlow saying that the bike has ‘no front end feeling’.
Honda’s statement read “Honda Racing Corporation are pleased to announce the signing of Pol Espargaro. The former Moto2 World Champion will join the Repsol Honda Team on a two-year contract. He will join eight-time World Champion Marc Marquez aboard the Honda RC213V. Espargaro is one of the most experienced riders on the grid, having raced in the World Championship since 2006 and with 104 premier class Grands Prix contested.”
Alex Marquez has been moved over to the LCR Honda team in a two-year deal for 2021 and 2022 which sees him replacing British rider Cal Crutchlow.
