Moto3 Misano Race: Dennis Foggia takes fourth win of the season

Dennis Foggia wins in Misano to close up on Acosta in the standings.

Dennis Foggia took a career-best fourth victory in Moto3 to close in on Pedro Acosta in the championship standings sittings pretty only 42 points off the title lead now tied with Sergio Garcia with Foggia leading due to his victory count this year.

The race began with Foggia showing some strong pace and speed before Romano Fenati took over the reigns of the lead, disappearing off into the distance as he does so well. From there it was a battle for second place with Antonelli, Migno and Foggia all going head to head like they used to in the VR46 Riders Academy. We had an Italian top four with each of them wanting to get the job done on home soil with Foggia looking like a clear favourite with Antonelli running wide dropping back to P7 before making up the places later on into the race.

For Fenati it was a clear victory turned to dust after an accident three seconds up the road violently ejected him from the race, ending his title hopes sitting fourth in the standings with 75 points and 100 left, it’s not an impossible task but the likelihood of Fenati now winning the title is extremely small, it’s a three-horse race between Acosta, Garcia and Foggia unless all three crash out of the next two races.

Sergio Garcia took home a solid fourth-place finish after battling with the front group throughout the race, he and Jaume Masia came together multiple times in the race with Masia’s bike and leathers being painted with the black of Garcia’s Gas Gas front tyre, a battle for the top Spanish rider today.

Finishing just behind were Darryn Binder and Pedro Acosta, Acosta picking up P7 from Carlos Tatay in the final lap to gain one more point in the championship, it may not sound like much but championships have been decided for less, every single point counts. Stefan Nepa and Ayumu Sasaki rounded off the top 10 ahead of Riccardo Rossi.
