WSBK Jerez: Rea wins Superpole race
Jonathan Rea took the race win in the Superpole race remaining at the front for the whole race
The Northern Irishman is looking to defend his title once again this year on his quest to become the most successful World Superbikes rider ever, he started the race from third place and led all 10 laps.
Championship leader Scott Redding dropped to third at the start behind Rea and Razgatlioglu before Rea pulled the pin and disappeared in the distance with a healthy race lead. We were expecting a battle between Redding and Razgatlioglu however it was not to be as the Turkish Yamaha rider suffered a DNF from a mechanical issue which promoted teammate Michael van der Mark to third place.
The top independent rider was Loris Baz who finished in fourth place on the Ten Kate Yamaha ahead of Chaz Davies then Tom Sykes. Alex Lowes was looking to carry over his form from Phillip Island however has struggled this weekend and finished the race in seventh place with rookie Garrett Gerloff in eighth place on the GRT Yamaha.
