Moto3 Silverstone FP1: Romano Fenati leads FP1 by 0.660
Romano Fenati led the Moto3 FP1 session in Silverstone, dominating the field.
Romano Fenati was the quickest rider in the Moto3 FP1 session at Silverstone destroying the field in an incredibly cold session with air temperatures suffering at only 13° degrees Celcius, something we’ve come to expect at Silverstone given the fact it was once an airfield and is a big open space, oh yeah, it’s also England so it’s always cold here.
The Gresini Moto3 boys were the second and third quickest riders in the session, the duo battling one another throughout the session to be the top dog with Alcoba on top by only 0.058 ahead of his teammate, there is lots of talk that both riders will be moving to Moto2 for 2022 with the Gresini team with some whispers of the Moto3 team folding at the end of the year.
Ayumu Sasaki was the fourth quickest rider leading Pedro Acosta who has finished in P5 in his Silverstone debut, the young Spanish rider continuing to show that no matter what you throw at him he absorbs it and learns, improves and excels. Truly the makings of a world champion, there’s much talk of him signing a three year deal with KTM, the move would include two years in Moto2 before a MotoGP move in 2024 with KTM, an announcement is believed to be imminent.
Filip Salac finished in P6, the KTM rider returning here with no experience on the Honda meaning he returns to what he knows on the KTM leading Jaume Masia and Riccardo Rossi who makes a welcome appearance within the top 10 of riders, the Le Mans podium finisher struggling to battle at the front but showing plenty of signs of what is to come.
Rounding off the top 10 was Dennis Foggia and Andrea Migno 1.654 seconds from Fenati’s P1 setting time with Darryn Binder in P13.
