WorldSBK Most Race 1: Toprak Razgatlioglu wins stunning, eventful and dramatic race

Toprak Razgatlioglu wins the first-ever WorldSBK race in Most.

Well well well, that was a stunning race all around, scary, dramatic and stunning. You have to feel sad for Scott Redding running the Brad Jones tribute helmet, very nearly winning the race, Toprak was absolutely the better rider of the day today, catching up to Redding and making some insanely impressive overtakes to take the win, there’s no doubting Toprak’s confidence in the Yamaha forcing his way past Redding when there was absolutely no right for him to do so, superb rider.

The race began with Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlioglu battling with one another early on in the race, it was clear to Scott Redding that he could capitalise on this and managed to get past the two of them and disappear into the distance leaving Rea and Toprak to battle between themselves with Toprak using his crazy late-braking style to be able to stay in the lead. After many many laps of the duo scrapping with one another Rea couldn’t hang onto Toprak and crashed out before remounting.

This crash enabled Toprak to catch back up to Redding and lock himself into a scrap with the British rider with the Ducati going toe to toe with the Yamaha and the Yamaha being victorious, Toprak making some insanely tight and ballsy moves to get past Redding and win by 0.040 seconds, Redding was furious stating “you can’t overtake like that“, unfortunately Scott, you can, Toprak proved this.

Andrea Locatelli got himself back onto the podium taking back to back podiums, the Italian is riding incredibly well at the moment and it’s hard to believe he is a rookie, Yamaha took a risk hiring him into their factory team but this is being paid off in full with some really stellar performances, is a MotoGP Petronas seat on the cards? We will have to see.

Rea would go on to finish with zero points on the board following a monumental crash later on into the race, raising some questions on the circuit safety given the sheer amount of crashes we have seen in today’s race with Rea uncharacteristically crashing twice, the championship gap only 12 points now.

Ducati duo Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Axel Bassani finished in P4 and P5 respectively with 22-year-old Bassani taking his best-ever finish in the class, seriously impressive by the youngster.

In sixth place we saw Garrett Gerloff take yet another impressive result, the American rider’s Assen mistake being undone by the crash of Rea today. In P10 we saw wildcard Marvin Fritz, the German wildcard put in a stunning race to finish in P10 in the race, really impressive ride from the wildcard.

There were a huge amount of crashes and DNF’s from Alex Lowes, Michael van der Mark, Loris Cresson, Tito Rabat, Jonas Folger, Jonathan Rea, Chaz Davies, Jayson Uribe, Karel Hanika and Alessandro Delbianco.
