Moto3 Le Mans FP1: John McPhee strikes first

John McPhee looks to turn his season around in Le Mans and has kicked it off with P1 in FP1.

John McPhee strikes first this weekend in the Moto3 class as 17 riders crash in tricky conditions, McPhee has historically performed very well in tough conditions scooping up his first win in the class back in 2016 in the pouring rain at Brno meaning if the weather continues like this he could take a race win which would give him his first points of the season after crashing three times and starting from pit lane in Portimao, he leads title leader Pedro Acosta by 0.563 showing some clear pace in the wet.

Pedro Acosta took second place and will be looking to extend his already insane title lead of 51 points after four races, he comes into the race with three victories and a second-place finish which is a staggering record for the 16-year-old rookie who leads Sergio Garcia on the Gas Gas.

In fourth place we saw Gabriel Rodrigo who still is yet to take a race win in the class after consistently crashing out of top positions, we saw this yet again in Jerez as he got sent to the moon and crashed out of the race, this year is his year where he needs to shine to make the move to Moto2, he led Tatsuki Suzuki and Andi Farid.

Adrian Fernandez was the seventh fastest rider, the younger brother of Moto2 star Raul Fernandez has shown some solid pace this year with some strong performances which unfortunately ended up in the kitty litter after being taken out multiple times, he finished just 0.002 ahead of Filip Salac who led his teammate Andrea Migno by only 0.080, the Snipers boys have also shown some strong pace this year with Salac having a few rides within the top 5.

Jaume Masia rounded off the top 10 as second-placed title fighter Niccolo Antonelli finished in P12.
