Moto2: Tommaso Marcon joins MV Agusta for European rounds

In a surprise signing, Tommaso Marcon will join MV Agusta in the World Championship contesting European races.

21-year-old Tommasco Marcon will ride for the MV Agusta Moto2 team in the World Championship as their third rider, but in a surprise twist, he will not be racing the full calendar and will instead race select Moto2 races in Europe to gain experience of the world championship ahead of a potential full-time ride in 2022. This means that Simone Corsi and Lorenzo Baldassarri remain in their current rides with the team with Marcon joining them.

He has previous experience in the world championship riding some replacement rides for the Speed Up and RW Racing teams in Moto2 and rode for the Tech3 MotoE team also last year, over in the CEV Moto2 Championship he has an impressive record taking P4 overall in 2019 with 3 podiums and multiple top 5 finishes and a staggering 0 DNF’s, finishing every race in the points.

Aside from racing these European rounds he will remain on standby for the team and will be able to replace one of their full-time riders if they are unable to race which is a valuable addition to the team.
